This week our Stronger U Member Spotlight is shining brightly on Jason Sitton, who was coached by Jim Caifa.
What’s your name? (First and last names, pretty please)
Tell us a little about you in 5 sentences or less. Where are you from? Are you a parent? What are your hobbies? Anything unique about your life that you want to share?
I will be 41 in a few days. I enjoy golf and weightlifting as my hobbies. I am from Crossville, TN.
What led you to join Stronger U?
I took a leap of faith based on the results of Missie Burchfield Young. The odd part is I have never met her. I took the word of a lifelong friend, Jeff Waldo, who knows her and was telling me what a drastic transformation she had made.
What dieting experience have you had previous to Stronger U? Was there a reason you were or were not successful? Why did you stop?
I have been a yo-yo dieter for years. I would deprive myself of everything and lose a lot of weight and then get sick of the restrictions and gain the weight back.
It’s clear Stronger U worked for you. Why do you think Stronger U worked so well when other programs or diets may have not?
I felt like I was in control from the beginning. I loved weighing the food and knowing as close as possible the number of calories I was consuming. Also, this style of eating allows you to work foods into your day that you can look forward to.
Can you give some insight on your eating habits BEFORE joining Stronger U?
I consumed high protein (but didn’t pay close enough attention to the fat content) and low carbs. I also thought I could eat well through the week and have a cheat day with alcohol on the weekends. I thought reaching my current body composition was impossible at my age based on results from the past trying to diet on my own.
Now that you’ve joined Stronger U, how have your eating habits changed?
I pay close attention to everything I eat and I plan my food at least one day in advance.
If you exercise or train for a sport, what does a typical week look like? Did Stronger U have any impact in your decision to start exercising or training for a sport?
I have been lifting weights since I was a kid but you really couldn’t tell by my physique since I was about 29. I use Jim Caiafa now to write my programming and I give 100% every time I walk into the gym. He has taught me a lot about weight training and food. Also, he has shown me the importance of cardio. I have even come to enjoy pushing myself to improve my cardio as well.
Has your change in body weight or composition improved other areas of your life? If so, explain what areas and how.
I never thought getting control of my weight would improve other areas of my life but it has. It has given me a new level of confidence when I am working with clients or speaking to a group. I honestly didn’t know how self-conscious I was at my previous weight.
Are there any tips or advice you’d give to new members of Stronger U to help them succeed early on?
Trust your coach and be honest with yourself. If you cheat on your spreadsheet the only person it hurts is you.
If someone is thinking about joining Stronger U, what would you tell them?
