This week the Stronger U Member Spotlight is shining brightly on an incredible story from our member Autum Callender, who worked with Coach Jessica Bachman.

What’s your name? (First and last names, pretty please.)

Autum Callender

Tell us a little about you in 5 sentences or less. Where are you from? Are you a parent? What are your hobbies? Anything unique about your life that you want to share?

I am an international teacher and the parent of a dog. I teach PreK and Art at a little international school in Kazakhstan and have taught in more than 5 countries. I am from the US and grew up in a military family so traveling is my life.

What led you to join Stronger U?

Following a knee surgery I found out I was 2 pts from being diabetic and that scared me straight. I have a choice and I can control it so I talked to my girlfriend and she told me about Stronger U. It has literally changed my life.

What dieting experience have you had previous to Stronger U? Was there a reason you were or were not successful? Why did you stop?

I have tried Whole 30, Weight Watchers, Carb Free, Vegetarian…they were not sustainable over the long term and I was not held accountable. I just fell back into my old habits.

It’s clear Stronger U worked for you. Why do you think Stronger U worked so well when other programs or diets may have not?

My coach is amazing and the accountability and flexibility of the program make it a lifestyle, not a diet.

Can you give some insight on your eating habits BEFORE joining Stronger U?

I was a bored eater. I would eat what I want because I was a physically active eater. I was an emotional eater.

Now that you’ve joined Stronger U, how have your eating habits changed?

I am a conscious eater. I now try to eat to fuel my body and still have chocolate often!

If you exercise or train for a sport, what does a typical week look like? Did Stronger U have any impact in your decision to start exercising or training for a sport?

Spin Class 2x a week, Bootcamp 2x a week, Walking, and the occasional soccer game or yoga.

Has your change in body weight or composition improved other areas of your life?

My whole body has changed. I lost 3 cup sizes in bras. I have lost 8+inches off my waist, 4in from my biceps, and even my neck lost 1/2inch! I am 30+ lbs lighter and from that, I have been able to run again. I also have more energy to keep up with my littles that I teach.

Is there any tips or advice you’d give to new members of Stronger U to help them succeed early on?

Keep it simple. Use your coach. Be honest about your numbers even if you think fudging them will be helpful..it won’t because your body knows. Use My Fitness Pal’s weight entry so you can watch the graph change. Mine is always up and down but in the last few months, the trend has been downwards.
