Before and After Member Transformation

Tell us a little bit about yourself! 

It has truly been amazing! I am 52 years old and have always worked out and kept myself in some kind of shape. I’ve been doing CrossFit and running for about 8 years. I thought eating right meant low carb or low fat, I even tried intermittent fasting and other fad diets. I’ve never been happy with how I looked in a mirror (body comp), so I figured that I should focus on the eating part and stronger u was the perfect venue. I joined and haven’t looked back. I’ve seen tremendous results in about 5 months. My coach Sam Walker is very knowledgeable and he has steered me in the right direction and has helped me with his many suggestions and explanations of things and how the body works. I can’t tell you how many people have asked me what I am doing and have commented that I look great. It’s very motivating seeing changes and having them validated by your family and friends. I feel great, need some new clothes, have more energy and looking forward to see where this journey takes me!!!

What did your life look like before Stronger U?

I have always tried to do what I thought was right when it came to eating. I “thought” low carb or low fat or intermittent fasting was the right thing and I was doing good. I was so far off. That’s exactly why I joined stronger u as I needed help!

What does your life look like now? 

Now I learned that for your body to work as efficiently it can, you need to have the proper amounts of fats, carbs, and protein. I find it fascinating that I am eating more fats and carbs now than I have ever in the past, yet I’m losing or maintaining my weight and even getting more defined. It is absolutely crazy. I only wish I discovered this when I was 20 lol. And I have to give a shout out to my coach Sam Walker! He has been truly a wealth of knowledge and suggestions and he has steered me in the right directions.

Where did you hear about Stronger U? 

My CrossFit gym had a couple of people do the program in the past.

Why do you think Stronger U worked so well for you compared to other programs or diets?

This really isn’t a diet, it’s a way of life and it teaches you proper amounts of foods. I love having things planned for the day so there’s no guessing what to eat throughout the day. I also love that I can eat what I want and break it up into a few meals a day.

What was something you regularly ate while on Stronger U that people wouldn’t expect you to eat on a diet?

I’m a creature of habit so I found things that worked and simply continue eating them. I do throw some other things in sometimes. I regularly eat peanut butter (2 tablespoons) with a honey crisp apple that I cut up. I’d also have a nice sandwich of Ezekiel bread with canned chicken salad (3oz) lettuce tomato, a sour pickle, and maybe 3-4 oz of pasta salad for a lunch! So good

If you exercise or train for a sport, did Stronger U have any impact on your training? Or did Stronger U have an impact on your decision to start exercising or training for a sport?

Well when I first started Stronger U, I was worried that I might lose strength. I told my coach that I didn’t want to lose any strength. When I tried intermittent fasting, it took me like a year to gain strength back. With stronger u and advice from my coach, I didn’t lose any strength and in fact, just recently I did my CrossFit totals, which is a total of 4 different exercises and I hit a personal record with more weight than I did in 2016!!! I was shocked and impressed. Again, it’s very motivating to keep going and see where this takes me!

How much weight did you lose with Stronger U? 

I’m down about 30lbs!!!! Feel awesome

Did you have any favorite non-scale victories to share?

Besides the more energy I have throughout the day, I need to buy new clothes as I’ve always worn x-large shirts and loose pants (for more room). Now I can wear large shirts and slim jeans!!!

Has Stronger U improved your overall quality of life?  

I think it’s given me a more positive outlook on life not that I had such a bad one before though. It was just Groundhog Day before, get up workout, go to work, come home eat dinner etc etc. I seem to have more “jump” in each day, I take on more things during the day, I actually put together a trampoline for a stranger, a single mom that got it for her son for Christmas and she couldn’t do it and needed help. I put it together yesterday for her!

If someone is thinking about joining Stronger U, what advice would you give them before beginning their journey?

Well I’ve had 2 people join already that have seen my progress. I tell them that if you are serious about learning how to eat right and are committed to sticking to it and putting the work in (weighing food, meal prep etc) you will see results.

Yes yes Sam Walker is a great coach! Very knowledgeable and he explains everything when I have a question. He has made himself available to me whenever I need by giving me his personal cell number also. I always thank him for how he has helped in this journey!!!
