The Stronger U Member Spotlight: Martin Klauber

This week the Stronger U Member Spotlight is a true family affair. Today we’re celebrating the hard work and success of Martin Klauber, who worked with his daughter, Coach Bonnie Klauber! Congrats to you, Martin and Bonnie!

What’s your name? (First and last names, pretty please)

Martin Klauber

Tell us a little about you in 5 sentences or less. Where are you from? Are you a parent? What are your hobbies? Anything unique about your life that you want to share?

I am a 62-year-old man with two grown children. Work in banking.

What led you to join Stronger U?

I was grossly overweight and my daughter works there. All my friends were saying – “Hey, your daughter is a Registered Dietician, why don’t you ask her to help you lose weight?” My daughter also told me that I didn’t look my best and she was right — got the photos back from vacation and it was not pretty. I also felt fatigued all the time.

What dieting experience have you had previous to Stronger U? Was there a reason you were or were not successful? Why did you stop?

I tried diets where you order the food, but I was still always hungry and cheated.

It’s clear Stronger U worked for you. Why do you think Stronger U worked so well when other programs or diets may have not?

Having a personal coach who stays on you and having enough food to eat that you are not hungry all the time made a big difference. I was eating a lot of empty calories before Stronger U.

Can you give some insight into your eating habits BEFORE joining Stronger U?

I ate out a lot at restaurants and on the go. I would eat and snack late at night. I had unhealthy snacks around the house all the time.

Now that you’ve joined Stronger U, how have your eating habits changed?

I got rid of all the unhealthy food it the house. Now, when I am hungry I can go to Greek Yogurt, Cottage Cheese, or other foods that I know fit within my actual plan.

If you exercise or train for a sport, what does a typical week look like? Did Stronger U have any impact on your decision to start exercising or training for a sport?

I lost the weight first and then started working out afterward. Losing weight does not automatically track to being in shape.

How much weight did you lose with Stronger U?

40+ pounds now!

How did your waist measurements change with Stronger U?

My waist dropped from a 38 to a 31.

What were 3 major non-scale victories you experienced with Stronger U?

Honestly, the biggest victory for me was running a mile in under 8 minutes. I probably could not have even walked a mile before starting Stronger U and losing the weight.

Has your change in body weight or composition improved other areas of your life? If so, explain what areas and how.

Every area changed. My energy levels are higher throughout the day. I look younger, a lot younger. I have much more self-confidence. Basically, every aspect of my life has changed and improved for the better.

Are there any tips or advice you’d give to new members of Stronger U to help them succeed early on?

Stay with it and listen to your coach. It might take time and it definitely takes effort. But that time and effort are going to be worth it if you’re willing to stay the course.

If someone is thinking about joining Stronger U, what would you tell them?

Do it. It can change your life just like it changed mine.
