Meet Liz!

Tell us a little bit about yourself! 

I live in Richmond, VA with my husband, father-in-law, and our three dogs. I’m a full-time tax accountant and in my free time, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, riding my Peloton, and my latest obsession, Crossfit. 

 

What did your life look like before Stronger U? 

I generally ate healthy and cooked at home but wasn’t watching portion sizes and was over-indulging on wine on the weekends. I would try new diets here and there but I would never be able to stick with something long-term.  As years passed my weight slowly increased so decided to purchase a Peloton and commit to exercising multiple times a week. 

 

I eventually became frustrated that the scale wasn’t budging so I knew something had to change. Unfortunately, you can’t out exercise a bad diet!

 

What does your life look like now? 

I finally found balance by properly fueling my body while still enjoying all my favorite foods. I’ve been in maintenance now for 5 months and I can’t believe I’m able to consume over 2,000 calories per day and not gain any weight!  

 

Where did you hear about Stronger U? 

I read about Stronger U in a Peloton related Facebook group. At first, I was hesitant to sign up but after reading all of the success stories I decided to commit and invest in myself.  

 

Why do you think Stronger U worked so well for you compared to other programs or diets?

Food freedom! I no longer look at foods as good or bad. If I want something, I work it into my day. I also love the Members only Facebook group that comes along with the program. I’m always learning something new or discovering new foods to try. Last but not least, my coach. Her guidance, knowledge and accountability factor all contributed to my success. 

 

What was something you regularly ate while on Stronger U that people wouldn’t expect you to eat on a diet?

Dessert! Some of my favorites are Yasso bars, Twix Ice Cream Bars, and Hershey Kisses. 

 

Did Stronger U change your relationship with exercise?

If it wasn’t for Stronger U I would have never tried Crossfit. After losing 50lbs I wanted to focus on becoming stronger and gaining muscle. I currently train 5 days/week at CrossFit Pushin Weight and ride my Peloton on the weekends. 

 

How much weight did you lose with Stronger U? 

50 pounds

 

How many inches did you lose off your waist?

6.5 inches

 

What about non-scale victories?

I purchased my first pair of knee-high boots that comfortably fit over my calves. 

 

Has Stronger U improved your overall quality of life? 

Absolutely! I have more energy throughout the day, I’m sleeping better at night, and overall making better food choices for me and my family.

 

Has Stronger U improved your overall health?

My sports-induced asthma has dramatically improved. 

 

If someone is thinking about joining Stronger U, what advice would you give them before beginning their journey?

This program isn’t a diet, it’s a lifestyle change. Throw everything you thought you knew about losing weight out the window (carbs aren’t the enemy!). Listen to your coach, and trust the process.

Your knowledge, expertise, and excitement for all my victories (big & small) really kept me motivated to keep pushing.  Also, shoutout to Mike aka food dad!
