This week our Stronger U Member Spotlight is highlighting Troy Clinedinst, who worked with Coach Josh Citron.
What’s your name? (First and last names, pretty please)
Tell us a little about you in 5 sentences or less. Where are you from? Are you a parent? What are your hobbies? Anything unique about your life that you want to share?
I am 47yrs old from Frederick Maryland and married to my rock Christina and we have two awesome teenagers that keep me young at heart. I enjoy the outdoors, photography, woodworking or any project that test my creativity.
What led you to join Stronger U?
I have worked with Josh Citron prior to him joining SU. And when I reached out to him for further assistance he showed me the way to the SU.
What dieting experience have you had previous to Stronger U? Was there a reason you were or were not successful? Why did you stop?
I used to work and run health clubs in my 20’s and know a decent amount about fitness and dieting. Like many, I have tried and succeeded with many weight loss programs but then stop and go right back to my old ways again, always been a personal battle. Long story short, this brought on bouts of depression, mood swings and basically not a happy person. Then to make things worst I turned to food for comfort.
It’s clear Stronger U worked for you. Why do you think Stronger U worked so well when other programs or diets may have not?
Because I have learned to have a new relationship with food. I don’t run to food for comfort anymore. Also, tracking your food teaches you so much. I feel like I am finally in control of what goes in my mouth.
Can you give some insight on your eating habits BEFORE joining Stronger U?
I would eat then eat again, I love to eat. I’ve been given the gift of bottomless pit syndrome. People are amazed by my food consumption abilities. Oh, and I love to eat.
Now that you’ve joined Stronger U, how have your eating habits changed?
I have learned how to control my proportions. I love to cook and make healthy meals but basically, I eat a lot more whole veggies. I really keep things simple (for tracking purposes mostly) so I’ll make my proteins, veggies separate and throw in a starchy carb if Josh says I’m allowed more carbs.
If you exercise or train for a sport, what does a typical week look like? Did Stronger U have any impact in your decision to start exercising or training for a sport?
I have always worked out on and off in the gym so SU did not influence that side of me. But SU did change my focus, in the gym and with fitness overall. I now put in the work knowing I will see results in the mirror because of what I do in the kitchen.
How much weight did you lose with Stronger U?
Right now I am down 100lbs.
How did your waist measurements change with Stronger U?
I have lost over 10” in my waist.
What were 3 major non-scale victories you experienced with Stronger U?
1) I have to scoot my car seat forward.
2) Fitting in an airplane seat comfortably.
3) Fitting into my 17yr old son’s clothes.
Has your change in body weight or composition improved other areas of your life? If so, explain what areas and how.
It has improved each and every area of my life! Most of all I am just a happier person with a different outlook on life. I am going to live, love and enjoy my family and be the best person I can be for them.
Are there any tips or advice you’d give to new members of Stronger U to help them succeed early on?
Just do it, one day at a time. Don’t stress it, put in the work and do your job, the results will show in time.
If someone is thinking about joining Stronger U, what would you tell them?
Do it!! Invest in yourself. We spend money on everything else in life why not put some of that $ into YOU.
